The collection celebrates the Eyo – masquerades that come out to escort the soul of a departed Lagos King and to usher in a new king during the riotous Lagos Nigerian Festival. Gozi celebrates this Nigerian tradition and introduces the culture of the Eyo to an international audience through this collection.
The Ode to Eyo collection mirrors the activity and fluidity of the costumed Eyo dancers. Linen and cotton in playful hues of blue, green and grey are textured on a relaxed silhouette. Patterned chiffon hangs on jackets or is softly layered onto trousers and shirts to create a dynamic wardrobe.
